The service
DeutschChat is a browser extension and accompanying web service that displays and explains captions on third-party video pages. It reads caption tracks that YouTube already makes available in your browser. It does not download, host, or redistribute video.
Subscription and billing
- Access costs $7.99/month, billed in advance through Paddle, our payment provider and merchant of record. There is no free tier and no free trial.
- The subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel. Cancel any time from your account page; access continues to the end of the period you have paid for.
- If a payment fails, access is suspended until the payment succeeds.
- Refunds are not automatic, but if the product did not work for you, write to support@deutschchat.app within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it.
Acceptable use
- One account per person. Do not share your login.
- Do not automate, scrape, or resell the lookup service, or use it to build a competing dataset.
- We may suspend accounts that abuse the service in ways that raise costs for everyone else.
Accuracy
Definitions, grammar notes and example sentences are generated by a language model. They are usually right and occasionally wrong. Do not rely on them for exams, legal, or professional translation without checking.
Availability
YouTube changes its page structure without notice, which can temporarily break caption detection. We fix these quickly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
Liability
The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim.
